On Monday, March 12th my students and I began learning about the parts of a plant. I purposely did a plant as opposed to a flower, because I liked the idea of getting them to think about fruits and vegetables. The lesson was introduced through a message during Message Time Plus, followed by a read aloud by Dr. Seuss, "Oh Say Can You Seed" and completed with this diagram. By the end of the lesson students were asking questions such as "How does the plant makes its own food", "Can we grow our own foods" and "Do all fruits come from plants?" I was so excited to hear all of their questions; it made me feel like I was doing something right and that they wanted to learn more!
